Frequently Asked Questions

Care: Handmade pottery can be used like other pieces of ceramics, just with more careful attention and appreciation. All of our work is made of fine porcelain clay and glazed with food-safe and lead-free glazes. Most of our work is microwave and dishwasher safe, but please be careful to load carefully and don’t bump your pots around. The exception is luster! If your piece has gold, silver, or mother-of-pearl on it, it can’t go in the microwave, and shouldn’t go in the dishwasher. Hand wash with care!

Packaging and shipping: We use recyclable and recycled materials as much as possible when packing our orders for shipment. We also do our best to make sure that your purchase gets you unbroken, so you can expect quite a lot of packing peanuts. We use honeycomb paperwrap, corrugated cardboard wrap, biodegradable/compostable packing peanuts, and cardboard dividers and boxes. If you find styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap in your package, it was donated to us, and is on its second life at the very least. Consider passing it along to a local ceramic artist rather than throwing it away! We typically use USPS Priority shipping for most packages, because it is the least expensive. Large boxes might be less expensive shipped via FedEx Ground.

Why is shipping so expensive?: Our website doesn’t do the best job at estimating shipping costs when you purchase multiple items, because it assumes that each item will be shipped separately. We will send you a refund for excess shipping costs once we pack up your order! If you want us to check actual costs before we ship, just send us a note!

Custom orders: We are happy to discuss custom orders for items that are already in our design style. See below for our current glaze color options. Please send us an email to get a custom order conversation started.

What’s this “waitlist” thing?: The waitlist is a way for you to let us know you are interested in hearing when an item restocks. It isn’t an obligation to buy, and it doesn’t send us a personal message- just adds the item to a list in the back end of our website. If you are interested in an item, but don’t want to commit, this is a great way to let us know. The more names signed up for an item on the waitlist, the more pressure we feel to make the item. If you are serious about ordering, and have a time limit, it’s a much better idea to email us and check in about our production queue and consider placing a custom order.

Wholesale inquiries: Please send us an email to request our wholesale lookbook and pricing information.

Exchanges or returns: If your order arrived broken or damaged, or if you’re not happy with it in any way, please send us an email within one week. Include photos of any damage to the item, including the packaging around it so we can file a claim. In the case of damage in shipping, we will send you a refund for the item plus shipping costs. If you are unhappy for another reason, we want to make it right, so please reach out! Do keep in mind that this is all handmade pottery, so variations in decoration and glaze are expected and are not imperfections, and custom work cannot be refunded unless it arrives damaged.
